Flu vaccination

Posted on:

We are seeing increasing levels of flu this year, including in children and young people. Flu can make even healthy people very poorly including the need to be hospitalised.

We are asking for your help to ensure children have the protection they need this winter.

If a child is aged 2/3years they are eligible for a flu vaccination (nasal spray) which can be given at either their GP practice or a local pharmacy. You can find and book via a pharmacy here: Find a pharmacy that offers free flu vaccination – NHS

Some children will have been invited by the GP to have a vaccination there – this may be because of other health conditions they have and they should accept this offer and contact the GP for an appointment

Any child attending school

The flu vaccination ( nasal spray ) is offered in schools by the dedicated nursing team. If your child’s school has not had a visit please ensure you have completed the online consent form so they can be vaccinated and protected.

Catch up /any child not attending school

If your child has missed the team’s visit to school or they do not attend school they can visit a ‘catch up’ clinic to have their vaccination.

To find out about the catch up clinics or if you need a consent form please contact the Intrahealth team on
